Creating a Sustainable Future for Events

Right now, while many events are happening virtually or as a hybrid of digital and in-person gatherings, there are some obvious benefits to this new dimension of event marketing. They are often less expensive than in-person events due to smaller or non-existent venue needs. They are broader in reach as transportation is less of an issue for attendance. And, they typically produce far less waste than traditional events.

It’s this sustainability aspect that holds the most exciting potential for the present and foreseeable future. Why? Because sustainability matters to consumers now more than ever. The digital research firm Clutch, found that as many as 75% of consumers said they would be more likely to start shopping at a company that supports issues they agree with. That’s powerful. Companies and brands who can connect to sustainability in their marketing have a unique opportunity to grow strong relationships with their customer base. But it’s not enough to simply “say” your business is sustainable – you have to be able to “show” it – and that includes the way you organize and host events.

At VIBE Agency, we’ve already implemented a system in place for sustainable events to help our clients navigate this new style of event marketing. It not only pertains to hosting events digitally, but also allows us to provide clear, concise guidance on how to enhance sustainability across the entire event marketing landscape. To do so, we focus on four pillars of event sustainability:

  • Eco-friendly venues
  • Local, organic, and “green” food & beverage
  • “Green” communications
  • Minimized transportation footprint

We also help our clients with evaluating their own carbon footprint, taking on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, looking into carbon offset initiatives, setting up smart partnerships with like-minded sustainability organizations, and following the recommendations of ISO 20121 – a measure set forth by the International Organization for Standardization to provide guidelines and best practices for creating events that have positive social, economic, and environmental impact.

When you first dive into the sustainability sector, there are literally thousands of touchpoints, partnerships, resources, and services to consider. What VIBE does is simplify your decision making with streamlined, vetted, proven solutions that work with your current needs and budget, while also setting the stage for additional opportunities to succeed with sustainability in the future. By this time next year, the sustainability market is expected to exceed $150 billion – if you’re ready to capture a piece of that for your brand, VIBE can help you make it happen.
